Andy's Letter to the Editor
I had just got my first job as a journalist working at a regional paper - the Barossa Herald newspaper. After introducing myself to the local community through an editorial in the newspaper, I received a number of emails from people welcoming me to the area.
Never one to miss an opportunity, Andrew sent a 'letter to the editor' where he basically propositioned me to meet his daughter Rachel.
But, of course, Rachel and I had already been dating for many months at the time.
The email is below:
"Mr Taverner,
I have deep family roots in the Barossa and a keen interest in The Herald. You look like a nice, well mannered young man. I look forward to your journalistic work and hope you display an integrity that is desperately needed in today's media.
If it's not too forward, are you married or single? I have a very attractive daughter and you may be a suitable candidate to meet her. She is the one on the left. The girl on the right is a trouble maker, stay away from her.
Regards,
Big Timmy E"
