Mitch's Stories
Andrew, a much loved friend.
We met in the Fire Service drill squad and my life improved straight away from knowing him.
A very intelligent man with a great sense of humour. I’d go home after meeting up with him and would laugh in the car on my own after I’d finally worked out what the joke in the story he’d just told me was.
After doing the milk carton regatta with him and his old school friends in about 1986, I just knew that hanging out with him, life was going to be good fun.
Sally and Andrew had one of the best weddings I’ve been to. We thought we were going to a 30th birthday party for them. It went from a 30th, to an engagement party, to a wedding in about 10 minutes. It was very funny, exciting and entertaining which pretty well sums Andrew up.
I think he always had 5 projects on the go at all times, with another 10 in his head.
If you were having a bad day you’d talk to Andy and without realising it you’d have a smile on your face. He was a people person and cared about everyone.
He loved his family and was always proud of Rachel and Harry and what they were up to.
I loved the big fella and life is not going to be the same without him or his T shirt collection.
I’m going to keep him on my phone because as time passes and the pain subsides I will look at ‘Andrew Eckert’ and l’ll have a smile on my face.
