Neighbours
Neighbours! What does the word mean? According to Wikipedia it’s “living in a quiet cul de sac” and how true is this of Fielding Rd. In 1975 Wayne and I became the youngsters of the street, eventually losing the title to No’s 5, 7 & 9. Frank & Lil Watts formerly at No 9 loved watching these new arrivals specifically. Frank was particularly thrilled when his skills as a carpenter were acknowledged and one of the “young ones” asked his advice. Andrew was amongst those and we often had a chuckle as Frank would check on the Reno progress as he burnt piles of street tree leaves
OMG what wonderful chats we had with Andy! Whether it was while sweeping and taking the footpath or in the aisles at Woolies or at the occasional street celebration or party. We never lived in one another’s pockets(wished now we had celebrated more) but always knew that help, friendship and assistance was always near at hand.
This is a time where help, love, respect and friendship cannot change the outcome but our steadfast resolve of what neighbourhood represents will always remain for you Sally, Rachel and Harry.
Andrew, journey safely. Thanks for your friendship and care. Love Viv & Wayne xxxx
