Relaxing days in the EK
I remember telling Andrew that one of the most relaxing days I’ve ever had was when he and sallly, and myself and my wife Dina, went to the hills in Andrew’s vintage and restored car. When we arrived at their house he had hats placed in the car on the seats for each of us to wear. It was a perfect day with the sun shining, no clouds, and a crisp feel in the air. The cruising nature of the car and the driver made the journey to the cafe so relaxing. At the cafe, nestled in the hills, we enjoyed a beautiful lunch. A bottle of red wine, and tea and coffee. Andrew’s combination of humour, wit, and knowledge made for a fun lunch, coupled with Sally’s calm nature and willingness to challenge Andrew on points that required probing, raised the quality of discussion to a high and enjoyable level. We all jumped back into the car, and it was obvious how proud Andrew was of his work, but also he always seemed to look like he loved even more seeing his friends enjoy the fruits of his work. I’m so glad I got to tell Andrew it was one of the most relaxing days I have experienced. I’ll always remember it, and so sad we won’t be able to do it all again. Miss you big fella.
